Name: Millicent M. Bulstrode. No, you are NOT finding out what the 'M' stands for.
Birthday: 12 April, 1980
House: Slytherin, thank you very much.
Appearance: In terms of her build, Millicent is what is nicely called a Big Girl and less nicely called "Oh my goodness, she's huge!" It's less that she's fat, and more that she's solid with muscle (well- some fat, maybe, but don't call her on it or she won't be too pleased). She's also considerably taller than most girls, at just over six foot.
As far as looks go- well, Ron's decree of her being 'haglike' may have been overdoing it, but she's no beauty. Though she can be passingly attractive if she puts effort into it, she has no desire to put effort into it. Thus, her heavy jaw, smallish grey eyes, small nose, large face, and nearly constant scowl make her look quite menacing. Her colouring is quite pale- she's not such a fan of sunshine- and her hair is black and curly and very unruly and unwilling to cooperate with any efforts to tame it.
Personal history: Millicent comes from a well moneyed, pureblood family. That, of course, does not mean it is an accepted one, nor one seen very fondly. While relatively old in blood, the family is new in money, and not looked at too highly. Naturally, as it would be very hard for a family to stay completely pureblooded, there's the occasional mudblood or halfblood in the family tree- but they're not spoken of. Also, on the Bulstrode side of the family, which was mostly composed of farmers before they got into business, there's a rumour that a few generations back, some giant blood got into the family one way or another. This is the (unspoken) supposed reason for the large size of most Bulstrodes.
Millicent was raised by her two parents: Edmund Bulstrode and Miette Bulstrode (born Bertrande). Edmund Bulstrode is a large, unpleasant looking man with a sharp wit, which he uses almost entirely to his own ends- a Slytherin at Hogwarts like most of his forebears. He heads up a business in Wizarding imports, under which he heads up a more illegal venture of selling Dark Arts related goods. He's made some narrow escapes from Ministry investigations, particularly back around the first fall of Voldemort, for catering to Death Eaters, but managed to get himself out of a hot spot. Nonetheless, he continues his affairs as usual, and has recently entered the growing market for protection items, both genuine and false.
Miette Bulstrode is, kindly put, a trophy wife. It's not that she's stupid- she was a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts- but she has chosen a life of shallowness and turning a blind eye in return for monetary security. She married Edmund straight out of Hogwarts, and Millicent's birth was difficult enough to ruin her chances of conceiving again. Deprived of the children she had wished for, and displeased with the less-than-feminine turn out of her daughter, she turned increasingly to alcohol as the years turned, and spends most of her time either holed up in her chambers or out socialising. Her knowledge of current affairs and, really, any affairs, is quite limited. Miette has a secret that would prove very important to her husband and daughter, but she's not going to ever share it if she can help it.
Although Miette and Edmund were very in love at the beginning of their marriage, Edmund's frequent absence due to his job as well as Miette's burgeoning substance abuse threw them apart. To proud to separate, Edmund has a tendency to take out his anger on his wife, sometimes in a physical capacity.
Millicent has a very strong relationship with her father and a very weak one with her mother, and it's frequently evident in the way she's perfectly willing to criticise her mother in a public forum whereas how she holds her father up to a nearly godlike status. She despises her mother for being absent in her life, and their brief encounters usually consist of them berating each other's insufficiencies. Millicent is more apt to spend time with her father when she can; the two share a common fondness for books and chess.
Much to her parents' dismay, Millicent showed absolutely no magical proficiency as a child and they were nearly resigned for her life as a Squib when her Hogwarts letter arrived. Baffled, they sent her nonetheless. To this day, Millicent's magical ability is minute compared to her peers, and she prefers to stick to subjects such as Care of Magical Creatures, Potions, Herbology, and the like.
At Hogwarts, she was sorted into Slytherin, as was expected, although much to her dismay, the Sorting Hat informed her that it was pondering over Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw for her as well. She greatly enjoyed her time on Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad, and it left her with a thirst for power that she has yet to quench.
Personality:Millicent is a very stubborn girl, who has a strong preference for things to go exactly her way. When they don't, her reactions tend to be very volatile. Although her own self interest is her primary worry, she is loyal to the few she lets into her life, and will beat up anyone who threatens them in any way. As magic isn't her strong point, she hardly reacts to anything by throwing a jinx or a hex and instead will resort to more physical means.
Silent through her first years of school, in her fifth year Umbridge's I.S. helped her gain the confidence to start speaking more in public and her peers began to realise that yes, the nasty big girl can TALK, and with big words, too. Recently, she's grown fond of unprovoked verbal attacks, and her caustic and sarcastic remarks are thrown at housemates just as often as at those she despises.
As far as romantic things go- Millicent's not that kind of girl. Or, rather, she wishes she could be- though she'd never admit it. One of her deepest, darkest secrets (which, as it happens, is somewhat common knowledge through Slytherin) is her preference for other girls. Her parents are unaware, and she intends to keep it that way. Life is complicated enough as it is without ruining their dreams of her becoming Mrs. Millicent Crabbe/Goyle.
She harbours a hidden sentimental side, which she doesn’t let loose too often; her reputation as someone not to mess with is something she cherishes. She hates the idea of being weak, and actively tries to quell any emotion that she feels to be so. Still, sometimes the more empathetic side of her emerges, though usually only in situations where it is in her best interest to do so.
Millicent is fairly skilled in conventional fighting, especially in throwing around her bulk. She has a strong fondness for animals, and Care of Magical Creatures is definitely her strong point, academically. She has a large black cat named Ernestine (of Hermione polyjuice fame) and she would do anything to protect her; threatening the cat is the quickest way to the end of one of Millicent's fists. She loves Quidditch, but, as a girl, has been too scared of rejection to try out for the Slytherin team. Her favourite team is the Holyhead Harpies.
